A tour designed to celebrate the American Thanksgiving Holiday and the festive opening days of the Christkindle Markets that begin the Christmas season in Germany.

DAILY ITINERARY - November 21st to November 28th, 2009

Frankfurt Chistmas marketSaturday, November 21st – to Europe
Overnight flight to Frankfurt.  Relax and enjoy your flight across the Atlantic, as your holiday begins.

Sunday, November 22nd – Frankfurt
I will meet you at the airport for transfer to the hotel.  Visit the Goethe Haus and one of the many interesting museums - art, film making, history, architecture and even a postal service museum.  If you would like more time to explore Frankfurt you may wish to arrive a day before the tour starts.

RothenburgMonday, November 23rd – Rothenburg
This morning we follow the Main River with a series of picturesque medieval towns.  Wertheim has a beautiful location on the river and has pretty, half timbered houses from the 16th century.  Our hotel for the next three nights was built in 1264!

Tuesday, November 24th – Rothenburg
Our local guide will take us on a walking tour through the medieval cobbled streets of Rothenburg with its high gabled houses and town gates.  The remainder of the day is free to visit the museums and explore the many shops and boutiques.  Browse the popular Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas shops.

Augsburg Christmas Market - front of the Rathaus.Wednesday, November 25th – Rothenburg
The morning is at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping.  In the afternoon we will travel the scenic Tauber River valley to nearby Weikersheim and visit the magnificent castle with its famous Knights’ Hall.  We’ll also stop in the small village of Wörnitz and observe the making of the limited edition Leyk Candlehouses.  Exclusive items will be for sale, including the House of the Night Watchman and the Toppler Castle.

Thursday, November 26th – Augsburg
Today we will follow the Romantic Road through the medieval towns of Feuchtwangen, Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen.  We’ll stop in Giengen, home of the Steiff teddy bear factory.  Tonight we celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday.  The menu will combine traditional courses with various German specialties.

Steiff Teddy Bear Museum.Friday, November 27th – Augsburg
This morning our local Augsburg guide will show us the finest Renaissance street in Germany and the cathedral with the oldest stained glass in the world.  The afternoon is free to explore one of the region’s most beautiful Christkindlesmarkts situated in front of the lovely Renaissance town hallSpecial farewell dinner featuring the regional delicacies.

Saturday, November 28th – return to USA
Morning transfer to Munich airport.  Pack up your happy memories and holiday gifts.  Our adventure comes to a close as we regretfully bid farewell to Europe and jet back to North America, arriving home the same day.  Meals (B)

RESERVATIONS:  Notify us that you wish to join the tour.  Your space will be reserved and a sign-up packet will be forwarded with registration form and an invoice for deposit.  Upon receipt of your deposit, another information packet will be forwarded with final confirmation of your reservation and details to help prepare for the tour.  Full and final payment is due 80 days prior to departure.

EXTRA NIGHTS:  Special rates are available at the hotels used at the start and finish of the tours.  If you wish to arrive a day early or extend your return by a day or two, the rate of $190 per double room ($145 single) will apply at the hotel in Frankfurt -- $225 per double room ($195 single) in Munich -- $195 per double room ($180 single) in Prague or Berlin.  Contact us for extra nights in Nürnberg or Budapest.  A buffet breakfast, taxes and service charges are included at all hotels.  Additional nights are confirmed on a space-available basis.  Airport and hotel transfers are not provided for extra nights.
