DAILY ITINERARY – December 6th to 14th, 2009
Sunday, December 6th – to Europe
Overnight flight across the North Atlantic to Prague, the Golden City of a Hundred Spires.
Monday, December 7th – Prague
After transferring to our hotel, the day is at leisure to wander Prague’s historic section with its winding cobblestone streets and extravagant, fairytale architecture. The main market square is only a five-minute walk from the hotel. Look for the famous Bohemian crystal, porcelain and paintings by local artists. Get acquainted reception and dinner tonight. If you want more time to explore Prague you may wish to arrive a day before the tour starts.

Tuesday, December 8th – Prague
A morning sightseeing tour with a visit to Hradcany Castle and Gothic St.Vitus Cathedral. 14th century Charles Bridge is a lively scene of painters, artists and vendors. We'll stop at the Gothic Town Hall and the famous astronomical clock. Afternoon at leisure or explore further and visit the legendary Old-New Synagogue in the Josefov District.

Wednesday, December 9th – Dresden
This morning we have a pleasant journey through the Czech countryside. In the afternoon our local guide will show us Dresden’s most famous sights, including the city’s finest jewel, the newly rebuilt Frauenkirche. The Procession of the Dukes is a detailed 300 foot wall made entirely of Meissen tiles. We’ll also visit the extraordinary Semper Opera House and the famous baroque Zwinger with its beautiful baroque pavilions and terraces.

Thursday, December 10th – Dresden
You have the entire day at leisure to explore Dresden’s Striezelmarkt. Dating back to 1434, it is considered to be the oldest Christmas market in Germany. You’ll find a wonderful selection of wood carvings, ceramics, gingerbread, porcelain and unusual flower arrangements. Be sure to taste the Dresdener Christstollen, a rich fruit filled cake. You may also take an optional tour to Seiffen and watch the local craftsmen at work making the wooden ornaments; including the smoking man, the horseman and elaborate Christmas pyramids. Friday, December 11th – Berlin
This morning we take the express train to Berlin. After settling into your hotel you will have the afternoon at leisure to visit and enjoy one of the many markets, some of which date back to the 16th century. The nearest to our hotel is in the center of the city at the historic Gendarmenmarkt.

Saturday, December 12th – Berlin
On our morning tour you’ll see many of the historic highlights of this capital city, including the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie. The afternoon is at leisure for museums and time to explore more nearby Christmas markets. Berlin offers at least one Christmas market in each of its twelve districts.

Sunday, December 13th – Berlin
Free time to visit some of the great museums and enjoy your last Christmas market. There are more than 170 museums, including the world-famous Museum Island. Tonight we celebrate our last evening together with a special farewell dinner featuring the regional delicacies.

Monday, December 14th – return to USA
Morning transfer to Berlin airport. Pack up your happy memories and holiday gifts. Our adventure comes to a close as we regretfully bid farewell to Europe and jet back to North America, arriving home the same day. Meals (B)

Upon receipt of your deposit, another information packet will be forwarded with final confirmation of your reservation and details to help prepare for the tour. Full and final payment is due 80 days prior to departure.
EXTRA NIGHTS: Special rates are available at the hotels used at the start and finish of the tours. If you wish to arrive a day early or extend your return by a day or two, the rate of $190 per double room ($145 single) will apply at the hotel in Frankfurt -- $225 per double room ($195 single) in Munich -- $195 per double room ($180 single) in Prague or Berlin. Contact us for extra nights in Nürnberg or Budapest. A buffet breakfast, taxes and service charges are included at all hotels. Additional nights are confirmed on a space-available basis. Airport and hotel transfers are not provided for extra nights.
